Draperies can add balance to a room, by making the eye take in the whole room.  They also add color and texture and can enhance the view to the outside.  Some people worry having panels on their windows will obscure the view, but the opposite is true.  As long as you don’t over power the window with a heavy treatment, the drapes act as a picture frame, framing the view.
